What are Seagate Nytro enterprise SSDs?

Nytro is Seagate’s enterprise solid state drive family. The drives are engineered for efficiency, high performance and increased storage density in data centers — eliminating performance bottlenecks and significantly improving quality of service (QoS).

The family spans three series. Nytro 1000 SATA SSDs deliver cost-effective, plug-and-play flash for read-intensive workloads and legacy environments. Nytro 4000 brings PCIe Gen4 NVMe performance to a compact M.2 2280 form factor. Nytro 5000 is the high-performance line, reaching PCIe Gen5 speeds and 30.72TB capacities.

Across the family you get power-loss data protection, enterprise endurance ratings from 1 to 3 DWPD, MTBF ratings up to 2.5M hours, optional self-encrypting (SED) models supporting the TCG standard, and a 5-year limited warranty.

Every Nytro drive is operating system friendly, integrating easily with Linux and Microsoft, and the NVMe models offer effortless serviceability with no downtime requirements and hot-swap capability for easy SSD addition, removal or replacement.

How do the Nytro 1000, 4000 and 5000 series differ?

Pick the series by interface and workload; pick the model by capacity and endurance.

See the spec table

Nytro 1000 — SATA

Cost-effective SATA 6Gb/s SSD storage for data centers. Plug-and-play for legacy environments, enterprise-grade endurance for read-intensive workloads, with power-loss data protection and low cost per GB. Nytro 1361 and Nytro 1370.

Nytro 4000 — M.2 NVMe

PCIe Gen4 NVMe in an M.2 2280 form factor, providing 10× the bandwidth of SATA SSDs with low latency and power consumption plus high QoS. Nytro 4350.

Nytro 5000 — NVMe

The high-performance line. Nytro 5350 and 5550 deliver 7.4GB/s and up to 1.7M IOPS on PCIe Gen4; Nytro 5060 doubles that again on PCIe Gen5 with 14.9GB/s and up to 3.3M IOPS.
